I'd consider it good news if it didn't sound like crap.

Joss Whedon has a new show on Fox that I won't watch until it hits DVD or BitTorrent. (Nothing personal, it's just that I don't have cable and don't watch broadcast TV.) Hey, Joss: if Fox doesn't cancel you after ten episodes again, try to beat your prior record of five good seasons, eh?

Oh, and while it's not news: Eliza Dushku is hot. I just don't think that can be over-emphasized or repeated enough times.

Oh, gee, another Joss Wheedon show about an angsty female with superpowers. I bet she's sassy and full of snappy pop-culture comebacks and clever plays on words. I wonder if all the male characters are either evil monsters or hopeless dorks? Here's my idea for the first episode: Eliza Dushku's programmer sets her up to parade around his house in a French Maid outfit, give him awesome blowjobs, get dinner on the table and generally shut the fuck up. See that, Joss? Your masturbatory woman-warrior fantasies are turning me into a misogynist. I hope you're happy, you dick.

Hell, his masturbatory woman-warrior fantasies are starting to make him seem like a misogynist. At some point, they stop being empowered, independent women and start being little more than fetish pieces. Has he actually had a normal, ordinary woman appear in any of his shows since Joyce Summers died?

Why does one begin to get the feeling that Whedon, if he ever played D&D back in the day, always played "women" who were really men with uteri?

(Things my built-in spell-checker taught me that I should have known: "uteri" is a word.)
