Doom + Super Mario = très cool

>> Saturday, January 05, 2008

Ever wondered what Super Mario would look like from Mario's POV... if Mario had a shotgun.? Thanks to the the internet, you get to see for yourself:

(At this point, there was supposed to be embedded video, but it doesn't seem to be working for whatever reason. So I guess you can click on this text and go to the original website to see the video if you really want to.)

(Naturally, it would be much cooler if the video were embedded. The truth, though, is that it's a little late and I didn't really have anything to say, but I'm still trying to do my entry-a-day thing. So the embedded video would have sort of covered that. But no, not going to happen. So the entry ends up really looking as thin and shabby as it is.)

(The other option was to drag up one of the things I saved for just this kind of slow me day, but who wants that? I don't, not much anyway. So then I saw this on Boing Boing and I thought, "Hey, that's cool--there's my blog entry for the day." And then the stupid embed code doesn't work. Well screw you, embedded code. You want to do me like this, fine. We'll see who's laughing down the line. Don't come crawling back to me, crying, when all your dreams of the big city lights end up washed up, when you're used up and burned out. We'll see how this turns out, yes we will.)

Well, damn! I don't know what to say--it looks like Means is on his own but it's also not a publicity stunt, or not exactly.

And yet this still isn't making the mainstream media. There are at least two stories here: the hijacking of the Sioux delegation (and communications apparatus: e.g. their website) is a fairly significant story, and the claim that vast chunks of five western states are no longer American soil is another.

Thanks for the update!

Yeah, it's been fun to follow along to this one. If you look at the Collaboration tab, the people they interviewed will apparently be putting out another press release in a couple of days, so there's that to look forward to. Also, there's an hour-long radio talk show on the Republic of Lakotah home page (link is near the bottom) with Russell Means. Seems he's a staunch Libertarian. And he does indeed sound serious, not just publicity minded.

I'm not real sure what to make of all this either.
