Look at that pretty hound doggie!

You're a hell of photographer, Eric.

Very nice.

What are you using, camera wise?

Thanks, Jim!

I'm using a Nikon D40X, which is an entry level digital SLR. I usually shoot in aperture-priority mode but I've been playing with manual-mode a bit lately, with mixed results.

I process the images with GIMP (the Linux/open source "Photoshop"; I believe there is a Windows version, too), usually amping-up the contrast a few notches (4-10) because I like the way that looks. I shoot in RAW (technically NEF), so there are also some interesting things you can do with white-balance when converting the images.

(O'course, I'd like to think that it's true that "No amount of Photoshopping will make a bad picture good" and that I really am a pretty okay photographer. :-) )

Oh, and the dog, for those who don't know/didn't figure it out, is my sister's Oscar. He is indeed a pretty hound doggie.
