Modest Mouse, "Fire It Up." 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Having a good Wednesday? I hope so.

Michelle: you might be interested to know that the shaggy-haired guitar-playing chap all the way on the left doing the little foot-shuffle and backing vocals is none other than Mr. J. Marr of Manchester (now residing in Portland, Oregon), formerly of The Smiths, The The, and The Healers, and one half of the classic '80s songwriting duo Morrissey/Marr.

Great song. I've only listened to their Good News for People Who Love Bad News, so I'll have to check that album out.

As for my Wednesday, still too early to tell, but I'm hoping it'll be a good one.

I didn't know you were a MM fan! I saw them play in Chapel Hill about ten years ago! On a side note, I hope you have listened to the new Neko Case- it's wonderful.

I've been a MM fan for nearly that long--since The Moon And Antarctica, which was another one of those wonderful records I discovered via CMJ Monthly (I should consider subscribing to that rag again if it's still around--they did me right a number of times).

I have to admit, though, I liked the last album more than the other two I own (which is something a lot of old fans disagree with). I do think Johnny Marr has helped them with melodies, which aren't always Isaac Brock's strongest suit.

I'll keep an ear out for the new Neko Case. I think they may have been playing it at Smelly Cat at some point recently.

Too much music I need to pick up, as always. I think there's a relatively new Sigur Ros album out, too, not to mention the Boss' newest....

I'm a fan of Building Nothing out of Something. Check out Neko when you get a chance!
