David Gilmour, whose music has meant so much to me over the course of my life, turns 64 today. Thanks, Mr. Gilmour, for everything. Seriously--your playing got me through more bad times--and for that matter, more good times--than maybe any other influence on my life.

Here's Gilmour performing Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (pts. 1-5)" solo (at least until the end, when he gets a really cool assist from longtime Floyd-associate Dick Parry on sax) and acoustic in 2002:
